Professionalism

As a practicing artist as well as an art educator,  I  know the importance of seeking out inspiration for my artwork. I actively explore local art exhibitions and opportunities in our community to share with the students to encourage artistic growth outside of the classroom. For example, the Taubman Museum of Art frequently switches out art exhibitions and serves as a great resource to our community.

The purpose of the Professionalism standard is to ensure educators are committed to the active development of themselves as a public leader in the school and local community. Teachers must continually act with moral, ethical, and personal integrity to enhance student achievement and well being.  Students also benefit from this standard by having a role model who exemplifies the benefits of working together as a community to promote success.

As a member of the NEA, I am dedicated to being an active participant in a nation wide association to better education. This membership is an opportunity to stay connected with teachers around the nation to better the lives and achievements of our students.
